Thank you for your interest in becoming Head of School at Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to develop their whole-school leadership experience, in a supportive and ambitious setting. QEHS is already a high performing school but this is a post where the right candidate can make a real difference. You will have day-to-day responsibility and decision-making autonomy for leading the school operationally, with the guidance and support of an experienced Executive Head as mentor.

It’s a role that presents great opportunities for career progression. If you aspire to become a Headteacher, this is an ideal stepping-stone - the previous two post-holders have gone on to significant headships.

This is a particularly exciting time to join us, as work has begun on a £40m rebuilding project, with the Grade-II listed Hydro at its centre. Scheduled for completion in 2021, it’s an ambitious programme that will see Hexham Middle School being co-located on the site. We are excited about what this major investment means for the school and the opportunities it presents to combine expertise and facilities, and support smoother progression for our young people, with a cohesive curriculum offer across the 9-13 age range.

There is much that is already good in our school: confident, well-behaved learners; committed staff; supportive parents. Your mission, should you apply and be successful, is to help make us even better.

I look forward to reading your application.
